How Bulgaria Is Following Argentina’s Path To Wine Excellence

Bulgaria has been quietly building toward something. Forbes just made it official.
In a recent feature, contributor Layne Randolph profiles the story behind Hayk & Hobbs — the collaboration between American winemaker Paul Hobbs and Robert Hayk, co-founder of G&B Global.
The piece traces Robert Hayk’s 12-year mission to reposition Bulgaria the way Argentina was repositioned: from value-only to world-class. Brands like Bulgariana and Rough Day laid the groundwork. Hayk & Hobbs is meant to be the proof point.
At the center of the project is a single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the Sakar Hills of southeast Bulgaria. The first vintage debuts spring 2026 with allocations in the U.S., Japan, Sweden, and Bulgaria.
“The wine is the output, but the mission is rebuilding a region,” Hayk told Forbes.
